Welcome to the
Kelowna Sunplex Sports Arena
located in beautiful downtown Kelowna. The Kelowna Sunplex is a
privately run multipurpose indoor sports facility catering to a
variety of team sports but mainly focused on Ball Hockey.
Many years ago
shortly after the invention of the automobile, road ashphalt was
invented. This literally paved the way for the newest sport to hit
North America. Finding their parents tennis balls, kids all over
Canada took there ice hockey sticks and headed for the roads and
driveways of there local communities. They gave birth to the game of
street hockey, also known as road hockey, then later referred to as
simply ball hockey. Entrepreneurs in the 1970s latched onto this
game and invented the aluminum hockey net and the orange road hockey
ball.
Of all the sports
in the world road hockey was never really given a proper venue to
play in. Basketball gyms were too small and ice hockey rinks were
too big and the concrete floors were too hard on the body .
The Kelowna
Sunplex is taking the game to the next level. We have shortened and
slightly narrowed the playing area and installed the newest in
polyethylene sports playing surfaces specifically designed for
roller hockey, futsal and ball hockey.
Just add score clocks,
referees, replica Stanley Cups and of course yourself and we are all
ready to play.
Lets Get it
Started!
